OxFam
The name Oxfam stands for Oxford Committee for Famine Relief. This organization was founded in Britain in 1942, 74 years ago. The group campaigned for food supplies to be sent through an allied naval blockade to starving women and children in enemy-occupied Greece during the Second World War. Now, Oxfam works to find new methods for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. They save lives and help rebuild livelihood when anything bad happens around the world.

Amnesty International
Amnesty International was founded in in 1961 by Peter Benenson, a lawyer. Peter's plan was to launch an appeal in Britain with the aim of obtaining an amnesty (meaning to grant an official pardon to those who have been convicted of political offenses) for prisoners of conscience all over the world. He wanted to give prisoners, who were wrongfully sent to jail for a crime that they have not done, a chance to leave prison and live a normal life again.
